The same happened also after just one-and-a-half portions of tart cherries – commonly known as sour cherries.

A clinical trials conducted at the University of Michigan confirmed for the first time that antioxidants in tart cherries – can increase and help human bloodstream, and boost antioxidant activity in the human body. Twelve completely healthy adults – aged 18 to 25 – were randomly selected to eat – or one-and-a-half cups, or three cups of frozen tart cherries. After the participants consumed the cherries, doctors and biologists analyzed their blood and urine, and discovered increased antioxidant activity even 12 hours after the consuming of the cherries.
